Zach's Bio

Zach was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, graduated from Vanderbilt University. While at Vandy, he served as a youth ministry intern at First Baptist Church Nashville for 3 years. He then served 4 years as a Naval Officer stationed in Rhode Island, Virginia, and Texas with 6 months in the Mediterranean Sea on patrol. Zach was a Navigator and Operations Officer aboard a patrol boat that was part of Naval Special Warfare supporting the SEALS. After 9/11, Zach's ship worked with the Coast Guard doing Maritime Homeland Defense. While in Virginia, Zach was a small group leader for high school guys and junior high guys at a growing church. He also regularly spoke at high school and college worship events and retreats. When he got out of the navy, Zach came on staff as a youth minister for several months at Liberty Baptist Church before moving to Birmingham to attend Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. After spending a year at seminary, and two summers as Camp Director for Infinity Sports Camps, Zach was led to coach football and basketball in Mountain Brook, AL where he began to lead community wide bible studies and discipleship groups. In 2005, Zach went on staff with Mountain Brook Baptist Church assisting the student ministry and preaching periodically in the contemporary worship service. In 2006, Zach founded Bigtime Ministries and is currently growing and developing Bigtime to be one of the most unique and exciting ministries in Alabama. Zach still coaches 7th/8th grade football as the Defensive Backs Coach and is the Assistant 7th/8th Grade Boys Basketball Coach at the high school.Zach's parents live in Lynchburg, TN and his sister is a graduate student in Murfreesboro, TN.
Crazy family facts: Zach's granddad was a famous country music guitarist who is in the Hall of Fame! Zach's uncle designed the Cracker Barrel logo. His great-great granddad was killed by a tornado while reading his bible!! Spooky isn't it!!
